minimodernistas visits the Neville House

The last time you saw my Neville House it had been renovated from a Man Cave to a relaxing lake front retreat. Well now it's been minimodernista'd. I think the 1:24 scale furniture fits so much better in this house.

Deets: Neville House was sold by CB2 in 2011. Ball clock, 3 Sphere Lamp, V-Leg Platform Bed, Long&Low Sofa, Long&Low Chair, Horizon dresser and night stand are all available in the 1:24 scale section of minimodernistas.com. Painting is from Shale, bear rug is from a Man Cave in a box gag gift, other accessories are miniature show and craft store finds.

I can't get over how cute the 1:24 scale 3 Sphere Lamp is. Here it is in 1:24 scale, 1:18 scale and 1:12 scale. It makes a great floor lamp or ceiling lamp. All of these 1:24 scale items plus new 1:12 pillows and furniture are on sale at minimodernistas.com, 20% off through Dec 3, 2014.

Kaleidoscope House, Brookwood and Betsy McCall on ebay

I am seriously procrastinating getting work done tonight, but here are a some more houses on ebay.

There is a Kaleidescope House (1:12 scale) on ebay with a starting bid of $125 and a buy it now for $195 with free shipping. Check out listing here.

There is an interesting finished Brookwood dollhouse (1:12 scale, kit sold by Greenleaf. The exterior is a little retro 70's but I'm kinda diggin' it. Check out the digs here.

There also looks to be a house built with the reverse plans from the 3/4 scale Betsy McCall Do-It-Yourself Dollhouse plans from 1955. Check out the listing here.

Okay, now I really have to get back to work. :(

Evening on ebay

It's too cold to work in the garage tonight, so the Fashion House is on hold. I ended up getting sucked into ebay instead and I thought I would share. Here are some of the gems that peaked my interest. Some of the prices are high, but many have "make an offer" available. As with many large 1:12 scale dollhouse many listings are local pick up only.

Ebay seller demantaur is parting with two incredibly detailed, fully furnished, and electrified houses. Both are local pick up only near Frederick, Maryland. This first house is a top loader with the roof on hinges. I love the panel molding and the plexi bathroom. The pool is phenomenal. Some serious hours were logged into making this a work of art. Check out all 130 photos on photobucket or the ebay listing here.

The second house demantaur is selling, in another impressive one-of-a-kind. The bookcase in the hallway of the two story brick house is impressive. Again, the bathroom here is really cool as well. Gotta love plastic. You can see all 69 pictures on photobucket or the ebay listing here.

I would LOVE to put a modern interior in this Western Log Dollhouse Kit "MONTANA BUNK HOUSE". I can just imagine a high end ultra modern cabin nestled in the mountains near Vail or Breckenridge. Dreamy.

I really love the shelves on this Vintage German Puppenstuben Store Front. I'd be tempted to take it apart just for the shelves.

This one is unusual indeed: Hand Crafted One Of A Kind Unusual Wooden Doll House. Local pick up only in Reading, PA.

A used Villa Sibi in Greenwich, CT is up with option to ship.

There's a Tomy Smaller Home and Garden in pretty decent condition, there may be a warp on the shorter part of the roof, but the second floor is not warping, which happens to many of the Tomy vintage houses. It is 1:16 scale, you can see an old commercial on youtube here.

This one needs some work, but the brick Vintage Chicago Bungalow is the same bungalow style house my great grandparents owned. I didn't know them, but we visit their old house whenever we're in Denver.

I love the copper awnings on the white Stucco Pennsylvania custom house. It also has a cool cross beam ceiling and the molding and windows are nicely finished.

Okay, this kit is extremely cutesy, but I love the roof design and the windows. Strip away some of the bubblegum decor and add a little industrial modern and I would call it home. Sadly, its small; at 43 cm tall, I'm guessing it is closer to 1:16 or 1:18 scale. Boo.

Mad for Mod's Mid-Century Modern dollhouse has starting bid of $295, local pick up Carmel, IN. Check out her blog for more close up shots.

A used Emerson with furniture is up with local pick up in Baltimore, MD area.

Mid-century Modern Dollhouse on ebay

Déjà vu. I was staring at this house on ebay trying to figure out why it looked so familiar. A little searching and oh yeah Mini Mod Pod! Recognize the bedroom? I love the interior walls; the bathroom is my favorite.

House comes unfurnished, but move in ready. If you live driving distance from Carmel, IN, I would definitely check out this pick up only mid century modern dollhouse. Having just built a house, I think the starting price of $335 is definitely worth it.

Paul MacAlister on fire on ebay

Not again!?!? Well, kudos to all of the winners who out bid me, I'm crying now. I was hoping to get my hands on one of these sets, but the ebay gods and my pocket book said no.

All of the pieces came directly from Paul MacAlister's estate and have been in storage since his death in 1986. The seller lucked out and purchased all of the 1:12 items at a local (Chicago) auction earlier this year. These pieces were made to populate miniature rooms that he presented to clients and also shown on his TV show. Since we can't all have them, I'm posting these photos so we can remember and be inspired by Paul MacAlister's incredible work.

To all of the winners, PLEASE send (or post) photos of where this collection takes you. These gems have been boxed up for over 20 years so please share how you bring them back to life.

All information and images are from ebay listings by seller decoray.

Mid Century Modern Miniature TV & Stereo Hand Crafted
The set consists of a tall console TV set in mixed woods with metal pulls and plastic TV screen & a console radio / phonograph cabinet of mixed woods with woven wood speaker cloth and plastic tambour door, metal handle and knobs and hand drawn radio face. This cabinet is composed of 2 separate cabinets joined together.

Mid Century Modern Miniature Beds & Headboards + more
All the upholstered pieces were hand painted to simulate fabric including the pillows. The headboards are crafted out of walnut and meticulously finished. This versatile set can be used as twins with a single headboard, twins with individual headboards, as a daybed or corner sofa, with or without the bolsters & pillows, etc. There are 11 pieces in all as shown.

Mid Century Modern Miniature Table & 4 Chairs Set
This set consists of a matching table & 4 chairs upholstered in blue & white striped fabric. The chair seats and backs are soft like real chairs. The table top is laminated walnut. All pieces have black metal legs, and frames.

Mid Century Modern Miniature Upholstered Lounge Set
This set consists of a matching sofa & chair upholstered in red corduroy, an ottoman for the chair in blue fabric, & a square wood endtable. The chair seats and backs, and ottoman are soft like upholstered furniture. All pieces have black metal legs, and frames.

Mid Century Modern Miniature Living Room Hand Crafted
Note the careful attention to detail in construction and surface finishing of the woods. The couch displays hand painted fabric designs and walnut wooden legs. The endtables have interesting construction details as does the walnut coffee table. The coffee table has a slight warp to the top.

Mid Century Modern Miniature Bed Room Set Hand Crafted
All the pieces are meticulously crafted and made in the manner of the actual furniture. Note the careful attention to detail in construction and surface finishing of the woods. The set consists of a wide chest, 2 3 drawer chests, a wall mirror, & a stool. All are in walnut and the fabric on the stool is painted wood. The mirror is displayed up-side-down in the first photo to allow it to rest on the chests. It is designed to hang on the wall. All pieces are fully finished on the back side too. The case pieces rest on the pedestals and are not attached. I believe he did this in order to use other cases with the same pedestals.
