minimodernistas visits the Neville House

The last time you saw my Neville House it had been renovated from a Man Cave to a relaxing lake front retreat. Well now it's been minimodernista'd. I think the 1:24 scale furniture fits so much better in this house.

Deets: Neville House was sold by CB2 in 2011. I propped up the Fish Hotel upstairs to try to get a better view, but our city is building a new park in the marsh across the street so there are trucks and fences everywhere. Kinda throws the scale off.

I really want to take everything outside and get some pictures on the waterfront, but everything is too muddy and wet from the rain. I'll have to wait for it to dry out.

7 years and counting

7 years ago I started this blog after purchasing the Antrim dollhouse from Earth and Tree Miniatures & Dollhouses (stay tuned for details on a contest to celebrate my blogoversary later this month). Here is what it looked like, and the exterior I added to it with the help of Paris Renfroe. The Antrim has been discontinued but my first blog post showed the other contemporary dollhouse sold by Earth and Tree, the Merrimack (you can see more pictures of the Merrimack here when I visited the store last summer).

Doris from minimodernistas.com has been in love with this house for years but didn't have the room for the 1" scale version that is 48" wide x 22" deep x 35" tall. So Doris bought the 1/2" scale version that is only 24" wide, 11" deep by 18" tall. The house inspired her to shrink her designs for a new line of 1:24 scale miniatures. The kitchen is a prototype and is not currently for sale.

It's been a great 7 years of blogging and collecting modern miniatures. I've finally cut back on other obligations and am making more time for this blog and miniatures. Last of the Paul MacAlister 1/2" scale

Here are the unique hand crafted 1/2" scale miniature Mid Century Modern furniture that are currently on ebay. These are the last of the pieces created by Mid Century designer Paul MacAlister (died in 1986) in the 50's - 60's and have been in storage since for decades. These were from his personal collection and are the smaller size that he was known for, same as his Plan-A-Room. Mr. MacAlister hand crafted modern furniture in miniature scale for presentation of home furnishing ideas for his television show, retailers, industry and interior design clients. Some are more "traditional" than "modern", but still incredible examples of Mr. MacAlister's talent from over half a decade ago.
