Next year I'll start the challenge in December so people have more time before they pack up their ornaments. Below are some ornaments I purchased from CB2 a few years ago that I still use in my scenes.

Ornament Challenge!

Don't put those ornaments away yet. Why not see if you can fit one into a miniature scene? I bought the blue spiky starburst ornament on CB2 last year and jerry rigged it into a hanging light with the metal handle from a Chinese food take out box.

I got the ornament pendant light idea from Emily's blog, Go Haus Go, from her entry to the defunct I'm a Giant challenge.

Below are some more pics from the room I set up (I swapped the kitchen and living rooms). Kitchen, island, chairs, bar stools, credenza, painting are PRD Miniatures. The table, modern vase, bookshelves are mine, Modern Minis. All the knick knacks are miniature show finds and from dollhouse shops.

Loss for words

Here is my late-but-better-than-never entry for Studioseven's (Mini*Aesthetics) February Design Challenge. Challenge details: design a scene around some holiday or observance in February (Valentine's Day, Wear Red for Women, Chinese New Year). I opted for VDay - boycotting store bought cards but unable to find the right words.

Deets: pencils are toothpicks made from Maria's Minis Pencil Tutorial.
PRD Miniatures: linea desk, tall bookshelf, and repurposed Reac chair. Pharmacy floor lamp is minimodernistas. Storage boxes, binders, books are minismodernas. Macbook and iPhone by Lilu. Magazine Challenge

So back in April, Mad for Mod came up with the magazine challenge. You can see most of the participants with links to their blogs on my mini challenges page (email me if I'm missing your entry).

"My [Mad for Mod] challenge is to take a picture from your favorite catalog, magazine or even online pic and replicate it in miniature. Let's say May 1st for a deadline. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!"

I obviously missed the May 1st deadline, but here is my magazine replica of a Room & Board catalog pic for their Architecture Bed.

Margaret Loves a Wallpaper Challenge

Margaret Loves threw down a challenge to create a scene inspired by a random (or not your style) scrapbook paper. Here goes. My kids picked out these papers, and I tried to find a way to bring both together. I split the room into thirds; hers, his and shared in the middle. I was able to add a lot of gifts and items I haven't quite found a home for yet.
Deets: Pile of pillows, bunk bed and linens - minimodernistas. Ms. Pac Man arcade game - Retro Heart. Bicycle is swap gift from TinyFixation. Bubble Chair gift from ModPodMiniatures. Purple and green poufs are swap from Pepper. Shelves, dresser, chair - ebay seller Mini dream world. Books - ELF Miniatures. Clock - LiluShop. Lamps, side table, desk, stool, waste basket, plates - AG Minis, Lil' Bratz, Re-Ment and Might World. Mini video DS and PSP video games - Miss Flynn. Lego car on desk built by my 5 yr old. 1, 2, 3 art are bookmarks from CB2 with ends cut off, put in magnetic frame from CB2 by me. Red dog card holder from CB2 (copied from Modern MC), red robot is key cover from CB2 as well. Cardboard playhouse made by me from TinyFixation swap supplies. Can't remember the brand name of the animals and eraser heads, I picked them up from a local mom and pop shop before it went out business :( Mini table and chairs in playhouse are Paul MacAlister (I finally found a use for!)


After seeing StudioSeven's post, I remembered I had the same Reac set, so I took some new pictures with the elephants. And added AG Minis diner benches (gift from Modern MC) and table base from IKEA table to make another seating section/play area. I'll probably remember something else I have buried for a kids room, so more photos might surface.

Jazzi has been been keeping tabs and posting great wrap ups on the wallpaper challenge and the magazine challenge. If you haven't noticed by now, I'm a total hoarder. I hoard as many challenge photos as I can find, as I like to have your blogs at my fingertips to easily spy on be inspired by. :P But seriously, I built a page to showcase the mini challenges.
