The B&B Italia Arne low swivel bookcase looks like it could be a 1:12 scale dollhouse. Designed by Antonio Citterio in 2005 the bookcase measures 2'4"L x 2'4"W x 2'2"H. I'm trying to figure out how much it costs but it's no longer on the B&B Italia website so I'm guessing it has been discontinued. Bummer, I would have loved to decorate this as a dollhouse. I found it in the catalog of Autodesk's Homestyler Floor Planner, free software to help you design rooms. 
I'm used to searching for things that can be turned into miniatures whenever I go shopping, but I didn't expect to find almost 1:12 scale outdoor furniture in the Garden Section of OSH (Orchard Supply Hardware)! How cute are these tables, chairs and loungers? The succulent planters and furniture were $29.99 each. The furniture are intended to be for garden use as they have long metal legs that stake into the soil to hold them in place. The stakes could easily be cut off if you wanted to use them with a dollhouse. In the picture with my fingers you can see one metal stake leg had already snapped off (I didn't break it! I swear, it was like that when I found it).
Modern MC blogged about an amazing cat retreat inspired Nomad Home dollhouse she's having built, and Pepper inquired if she'd see these dog abodes on www.dogisagod.it. Oh Heavens, the Transparent Dogs House is definitely my inspiration pic for the next dollhouse I want to build. Thank you Pepper!

Oh, and Dwell Magazine The Bible for Modern Living (I love that tag line) just went on sale for $12 for a 1-year subscription, which usually runs $19.95. They are offering a digital subscription or a print subscription, depending on how much you like trees. :P
Maryann is still a Barbie girl, but she did create this beautiful 1:12 bedroom set for a local charity auctioning off a dollhouse last year. Looks like we're not the only ones wanting more 1:12 from Maryann. I was flipping through the MoMA Design Store Fall Preview 2010 magazine (yes Fall, sorry, I meant to post months ago, but am trying to catch up), thinking of all the fun things that might work as miniatures, when I stumbled across this 1946 Future Kitchen by James Barnes and Jean Reinecke. Ooo la la.
What I'm dying to know is if this mini kitchen is part of the exhibit at MoMA. Anyone going to be in New York to check out the exhibit? Please let me know if its there and if it is bolted down. :)
Does anyone have the July 2010 issue #87 of American Miniaturist? The cover article is "Miniature Modernity - Chic furniture you can make", but before I buy, I'm curious if the directions are only for the couches on the cover or if there are more designs in the magazine.
I've blogged before about architectural models that I wish came in dollhouse sizes (360 Winnett and MC finds), but mini2b sent me this really cool link to an architectural model on Court1616's Flickr page called A Writer's Tower. Oh how I wish this was a real dollhouse in 1:12 scale.
On my never ending list of things to do, I had wanted to build a 1:12 version of Villa Savoye, but the sheer size of it was so daunting that I moved towards the Case Study Houses instead. Sadly, only plans on paper now, but I hope to start building one later this year.
Along the lines of Paul McCobb and modern furniture designs... The School of Architecture at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign had a Modern Furniture Exhibit in 2007. The website has these great historic photos as well as bios and pictures of most mid-century modern furniture designers. I have a few of these chairs in miniature, but I would love to make several others. I think the site is worth a gander if not just to find out more about the incredible designers that set the standards for modern.
Not even a week later Oese posted pictures of her lego creations on Mini Friseursalon. Then I thought "how cool would it be to be Oese?"
