My Shop is Now OPEN!

It has been a long process, but I'm excited to announce the opening on my shop selling ultra modern miniatures. Read more about it »

3D printing is taking design to a whole new level, check out this video on what it's all about. I have dreamed about opening a shop but was never able to produce the quality I wanted in wood or other materials. With the help of Shapeways, my 3D designs are fabricated into high quality modern miniatures that will look incredible in any dollhouse or display.

  1. Oh, well done, such incredible pieces! These pieces will work in ultra modern, MidCentury Modern and Art Deco, as well as traditional, and each piece would be the focal point of a really well designed room, I want all of your pieces!!!
    Congratulations!

    1. I can't wait to see what you do with them!! All my stuff has been white, but with the new items coming next month I'll be showcasing the color versions. I wish they offered orange, I've been campaigning for it, so we'll see. Knock on wood. More to come! :D

    1. The International shipping is the one downside with Shapeways and UPS. I'm still trying to find other 3D printing companies that have better International shipping rates, but so far most are about the same. Working on it. :D

    1. Unfortunately Shapeways is a registered business in the USA and in the Netherlands, so they can only offer those two currencies. I researched other 3D printing companies but Shapeways was able to meet the quality I was looking for at affordable prices. As the industry grows there will likely be other companies with more currency choices, but for now Shapeways is the best. I will keep my eyes out for other companies though.

    2. In fact I was thinking of having you over as an interior decorator to help me, I'm tired of my MH1 look. What do you charge an hour???? CM

    3. Hey Chris, Thanks!!! Argh yes, press. That whole marketing thing. Not sure where to start. I'm thinking maybe setting up a few pieces on etsy or ebay just to get found there. Paris suggested Good Sam show, but I'm not sure I'm ready for the big leagues yet. Go big or go home they say... nervous, but I'm thinking about maybe trying to get into a smaller miniatures show. Who knows, for now I'm working on new designs and testing the realm of what is possible. :D

    4. Carol! We'll have to have a meet up when you get back from babyland. Such a fun place. You are too funny. You should host the next meet up and we'll all help redecorate your MH1. I love that house! :D

  12. So the secret is you out sourced the printing. I thought you purchased a printer and set up manufacturing in your kitchen ; ) CONGRATULATIONS Megan! I know you'll find great success and I'm so glad to have received some of your prototypes and early pieces. It's all so incredibly exciting....oh, GO BIG is what I say!

    1. Thanks Alisa! I would love to buy a 3D printer, but the price tag is too big right now. The big issue I ran into, is I REALLY like the polished plastic, and to buy a printer and a polisher? Ugh, maybe when the prices come down or when I win the lottery. I would LOVE to be able to do the fabricating in house, but for now outsourcing is my best bet. My Mister is pretty happy with the outsourcing option too, although I think he could have some fun making stuff as well. I'm pretty sure The Fixation prototype I sent was not polished and you can tell how gritty that was compared to the polished Slotted Side Table. Polished is definitely the way to go. A few of the original pieces couldn't be polished so I have to redesign those when I find the time. I'm so excited to be up and running and can't wait to see what inspiration strikes next. :D

    1. Thanks Grandmommy! Unfortunately Shapeways bases the prices per cubic inch of how much material is used in each piece. I'm trying to design with the least amount materials possible to keep costs down. :D

  16. Congratulations on your shop and thanks for your comment on the 3D-printer mini vases. They are actually produced by my husband, not me, so the credit will go to him :)
