I need your help for a new "Free Samples Challenge"... For the challenge it will be any room setting that includes free samples, however you interpret it.
For the next 2 weeks, I would love any suggestions you have on where you can get free samples that work well for minis. Then I'll compile the list and start the challenge, that way there will be multiple places to hit up for freebies without inundating one company with all of us free loaders. ;)
Mad for Mod posted suggestions on where to get laminate samples: Formica, Pionite, Nevamar, and Wilsonart. I know many of you have posted great places for freebies, so please send them my way again, as it will take me forever to scour your blogs for links. Game on!
Great idea. I think it's about time for a challenge. If you go to Lowe's or Home Depot, they have free flooring and laminate samples. I also think I remember someone (not sure who)mentioning on a blog that they had gotten free fabric samples from Restoration Hardware.
ReplyDeletesmithandnoble.com - They are a window treatment company and offer free samples.
ReplyDeleteCool idea! Amtico International offers samples [http://america.amtico.com/], and lots of home stores do as well right in their aisles, including Home Depot, Lowes, west elm, and Pottery Barn.
ReplyDeleteHi, off topic I know, but when will you do the acrylic stairs tutorial? It's been on your to do list for a long time! Pleeeeeease do it soooon - thanks!
ReplyDeleteI always pick up paint swatches every time I visit the hardware store as they can be used for picture boards or other coverings.
ReplyDeleteI've been known to dumpster dive (or you can just walk in and ask)at a particular interior design firm and I've dug out wallpaper books, and fabric swatch books that make great wallcoverings, rugs and upholstery.
ReplyDeleteHello from far away in Israel,
ReplyDeleteThis might be so out of the way that it won't be interesting. the freebees I use are the nursery samples of pebbles, wood pieces and artificial lawn samples... I use it for the inside ,natural look, and for the out side land skape, pool scenes.
Try this out. My nursery has open days , rather like fairs. There I find lot of material.
I hope it gives you some idea where to look.
I went into a discount furniture store. They had samples of flooring (rugs, tiles, etc.). They were getting rid of some "soft under your feet" tile samples (approx. 20" X 12") that are easy to cut. I use them for tiles in the kitchen and bath. I scored about 50 of them...I can cut them to any size! And I sure would love it if you would do the tutorial on the stairs too!!!! Melissa
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! as i son't get out a lot..i try to re-use whatever one can imagine! But thinking of Left-overs/ free samples..because of our printing office, i know they all have loads of CARDBOARD, pieces of wrongly-printed or cut-to throw away- paper/cards/cardboard..in many sizes,paper-weight,options! also lots of mostly good-quality boxes/packages - often in the same size, very handy to stack in one's shelves to organize things!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun! I have used free samples from The Rubber Flooring Company (http://www.therubberflooringcompany.co.uk/). They are in England and I cannot remember if I had to pay shipping (probably so). I've enjoyed them greatly and used them in the room I did for the "wacky wallpaper" challenge back in the spring.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone wants to splurge, samples of the beautiful Mya Romanoff designer wall coverings are $3.00 each for a 5.75" X 8.75" sample. I've got some of these as well. The options and quality are both amazing.
Oh, and don't forget the wonderful packaging (bags, boxes, etc.) for luxury hair products and designer perfumes. It may be a bit off topic but if the challenge is to use "free supplies" that may help with the creative process. Notice I've been using two Bumble & Bumble boxes I cut up in my rooms a lot lately ;)
Okay that's it. TTFN!
